Chief Accountant

In Poland, we support agriculture, horticulture, and professional turf care. We are now looking for an experienced accounting professional ready to step beyond advisory and take ownership of finance operations within the business.
The Role:
This is a key position within our organization. You will take full ownership of the accounting function, ensure compliance, and actively support business decision-making with high-quality financial insights.
The Responsibilities:
- Lead full-scope accounting in line with the Polish Accounting Act and Group standards,
- Take ownership of tax compliance (CIT, VAT, deferred tax, etc.),
- Prepare statutory financial statements and group reporting packages,
- Manage and develop a team of 3 accountants,
- Drive process improvements and increase efficiency across accounting and tax areas,
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes,
- Act as a key point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, business stakeholders, and HQ,
- Support cash flow management and financial planning.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics,
- Brings several years of hands-on experience from an accounting firm (essential),
- Is confident working with ERP systems (SAP must-have; Optima/QAD is a plus),
- Is highly proficient in Excel,
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations,
- Communicates confidently in English (min. B2),
- Has leadership experience or is ready to step into a managerial role,
- Is proactive, solution-oriented, and detail-focused.
