Job Description
As the Southeast Territory Sales Specialist, you will coordinate and execute all sales-supporting activities necessary to ensure a positive customer experience and grow the T&O business in the region which includes Tennessee, North Georgia, South Carolina, and North Alabama. This is an entry level sales position with the goal of securing a Territory Sales Manager role in the future. For the first 9 months to 1 year (depending on the organizational needs and readiness), the Specialist will attend specific training modules specific to the territory needs and requirements.
The Territory Sales Specialist role encompasses technical competency with horticultural crops, strong closing skills, and flexible, solution-based sales behavior. Sales efforts will include qualifying prospects, uncovering key needs, and structuring financially sound end-user offers to leverage sales growth with appropriate contribution to profit. In this position, you will be responsible to gaining incremental business at end-user accounts by leveraging the ICL Specialty Fertilizer product portfolio and array of technical services. The product lines that you will support include controlled-release fertilizers, water-soluble fertilizers, and plant protection products, including but not limited to Osmocote (growwithosmocote.com) and Peters (growwithpeters.com) brands. In this role, you will be traveling a minimum of 50% of the time.
I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?
• Prospecting
o Consistent prospecting is a major component of this position.
o This includes calling on grower accounts and working closely with local distributor sales representatives to uncover key grower needs and identifying new sales opportunities while promoting product lines and innovations per the company direction.
• General Sales Activity
o Learn general sales activities to set winning trials and create incremental sales gains to deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual sales budgets.
o Sales activity includes building relationships within the industry and training distribution and end-users on ICL’s product line. Training will be provided specific to recommending product solutions, building and executing territorial sales and marketing plans with Technical Services and your Regional Manager.
• Communication
o Communication is key.
o You will be working closely with both internal groups such as Sales Management, Customer Service, Marketing and Finance, as well as external customers such as the distribution channel to achieve successful territory objectives.
• Reporting & Tracking
o Accurate reporting and tracking are necessary to be a successful Territory Manager.
o You will be trained on reporting and tracking customers, projects, monthly field activities, and results using ICL’s CRM. You will also be assessing results and correcting actions if necessary.
• Customer Service & Complaint Follow-up
o Provide ample customer service.
o Compliant follow-up includes investigating issues in concert with Technical Services to aid all customer complaints resolution.
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
• Currently resides in the assigned territory: Tennessee, North Georgia, South Carolina, or North Alabama
• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture/business or a closely related field preferred.
• Some experience in sales horticulture or a related industry preferred.
• Demonstrate sales process knowledge with previous activities.
• Strong business acumen to leverage the company portfolio to end-users.
• Able to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Skilled within Microsoft Suite products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel overnight in excess of 50% of the time.

Salary Range: $49K - $91K/year
Annual Bonus Target: 15%, subject to plan provisions.
