ICL’s Corporate Development is responsible for creating, developing and executing on the company’s long term strategy through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investments, divestitures, joint ventures, and other strategic initiatives. The investment arm named ICL Planet Startup Hub is directly investing in startups that have strategic value to ICL’s business growth.

 

Areas of responsibility:

The corporate investment manager will be part of an exclusive team responsible for making venture investments and managing a portfolio of existing investments; the corporate investments team is working closely with ICL’s different business units globally, understanding the strategy and looking at groundbreaking next-gen technologies and start-ups that can complement and accelerate our strategy.

The ICL corporate investment manager will work closely with ICL’s different divisions and SMEs (subject-matter expert) to identify and analyze new business opportunities, lead and participate in new corporate investments and making sure current investments are successful.

 

Main responsibilities:   

  • Critically evaluate investment opportunities and their fit to ICL’s strategic priorities
  • Lead an in-depth analysis of new investments and on-going ones including investment thesis, competitive advantages, financial analysis and modeling, operational merits to ICL
  • Support development of investment proposals, deal structuring and negotiation of legal documents
  • Create and manage a pipeline of potential “investment candidates” and maintain relationships
  • Manage deal and due diligence process for potential investments – origination, market and company analysis, product and technology understanding, competitive landscapes, financial valuation + modeling, deal making process and post investment.
  • Support deal structuring: legal/financial terms and investment structure, structuring both investment and strategic collaboration terms, working with specialist legal advisors and commercial teams
  • Research emerging technology trends, align with ICL strategy and develop theses around them.
  • Supporting wider activity within ICL Planet and the ICL Corporate Development Unit (CorpDev, Strategy and more)
  • Preparation of reports and analysis of the portfolio of investments.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in Venture Capital (VC), Corporate Venture Capital (CVC), business role in a tech incubator or corporate development/corporate strategy roles is required.
  • Familiarity and experience with startups dynamics, stages of evolution, operations, strategy, and finances
  • Experience with early stage tech led businesses and understanding of technology development concepts preferably in the areas of agriculture, food, industrial-tech or adjacent domains
  • Sound business understanding with previous experience in financial modeling and legal concepts and negotiation
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with multidisciplinary stakeholders and of developing external networks to mutual advantage
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve measurable results.
