The Role
The HR Manager, IBP Site in Suria, Spain is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the people strategy to enable business performance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. The role ensures that ICL Spain has the right capability, structure, culture, and leadership in place by aligning HR strategy with business objectives in a unionized, operationally intensive environment.
The Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic HR Business Partner to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team, with strong presence in operations (plant, mine, and offices).
- Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic and operational plans through effective workforce and people strategies.
- Translate business strategy into HR roadmaps, policies, and initiatives aligned with corporate and regional objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing guidance on leadership effectiveness, organizational design, and people-related decision-making.
- Lead organizational design, workforce transformation, and culture change initiatives in close collaboration with business leadership.
- Act as change leader, driving engagement, accountability, and performance across the organization.
- Promote a strong, value-driven culture with high employee engagement and loyalty.
- Lead and manage industrial relations with Works Councils and Trade Unions in a complex and highly unionized environment.
- Own and lead Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) negotiations, ensuring balance between business sustainability, productivity, and employee wellbeing.
- Ensure a consistent, legally compliant, and business-oriented Employee Relations framework across all sites.
- Own the full employee lifecycle strategy and execution: talent acquisition, onboarding, development, performance, engagement, retention, and offboarding.
- Drive recruitment strategies to support business growth and critical capability building.
- Strengthen internal and external employer branding and employee experience.
- Ensure effective onboarding, technical and functional training, and continuous capability development.
- Implement and lead succession planning and internal talent pipelines for key and critical roles.
- Lead the execution of the Total Rewards strategy, including compensation, benefits, merit, and bonus cycles.
- Own headcount planning, workforce optimization, overtime control, and HR budget management.
- Drive productivity improvements through workforce planning, skills development, and engagement initiatives.
- Ensure robust performance management systems, goal cascading, feedback loops, and leadership accountability.
- Ensure HR contribution to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, policies, and compliance across all sites.
- Monitor systems, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to achieve excellence standards.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a multi-disciplinary HR team (HR Operations, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, L&D, Labor Relations).
- Own internal communication strategies, employee engagement initiatives, and change communication.
- Design and govern HR policies, procedures, and frameworks, including management of outsourced services.
- Proactively anticipate organizational and workforce needs and provide timely, practical solutions.
The Requirements
- University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Fluent in English (Spanish native or fluent required).
- Senior HR leadership experience within large, complex, multi-site organizations, preferably industrial, mining, manufacturing, or heavy operations.
- Strong background in Spanish labor law, employee relations, and union negotiations.
- Proven experience working in a multinational, matrix, global environment.
- Demonstrated success in culture transformation and change management.
- Track record of building high-performing HR teams and delivering customer-focused HR services.
- Strong commercial and operational acumen with the ability to link people strategy to business outcomes.
- Excellent influencing skills; ability to challenge and partner with senior leaders.
- Confident decision-maker with resilience under pressure and ability to handle complexity.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Hands-on, visible leader with a strong presence on-site and close connection to operations.
- Effective union and Works Council negotiations.
- Sustainable workforce cost control and productivity improvement.
- Visible leadership and proactive presence across site.
