QC Lab Technician

As the Quality Control Lab Technician you would be responsible for the following:

  • Perform analytical and physical testing on incoming raw materials and finished goods manufactured in both the Summerville and North Charleston plants for QC release
  • Receive CoA for raw materials and confirm compliance with specification
  • Communicate daily with the Quality Manager to analyze results, determine the disposition of materials, and discuss laboratory management
  • Perform additional analysis for non-conforming product that will require travel between manufacturing sites
  • Maintain laboratory databases and paper documentation of testing results and reports
  • Maintain an inventory of laboratory supplies and place orders when supplies are required
  • Keep all laboratory apparatuses, sieves and instrumentation calibrated and in working order. Troubleshooting analytical instrumentation is an essential part of the position and will require some knowledge of the instrumentation as well as working directly with manufacturer technical or maintenance services teams
  • Manage all QC retain samples and ensure that materials are properly stored and discarded after their expiration date
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision while observing all health and safety precautions applicable to a laboratory
  • Overall understanding of typical lab practices
  • Other duties as required

Required Skill and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or related field, or relevant working experience in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to travel to the North Charleston facility as needed
  • Willing and able to work up to 2 weekends per month
  • Strong computer skills, as well as oral and written communication skills, are essential
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Capable of multitasking and managing the workload efficiently under pressure
  • Willingness to learn new skills and become familiar with specialized instrumentation and custom software
  • Ability to move up to 25 lbs. and be able to remain in a standing position for long periods throughout the shift
