Job Description

As the Maintenance & Reliability Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the plant maintenance department.  Reduce downtime through corrective and preventive maintenance. Provide technical expertise to assess and monitor all process equipment, conduct reliability studies on existing equipment and recommend needed improvements to improve equipment performance. Drive improvements to human safety, food safety, product quality, and overall productivity. Direct plant maintenance programs to generate cost improvements in assets, processes, and material usage to reach annual performance goals. Provide leadership in the implementation and maintenance of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring operational issues. Manage spare parts and repairs, and establish reliable and accurate storeroom performance. Develop and implement the maintenance and capital budgets and manage department / project costs within budgetary guidelines. Work closely with the EHS committee; remain compliant with environmental regulations. Analyze engineering design concepts and recommend design. Attain specified operational reliability requirement. Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality or safety system. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: The site operates 7 days per week, around the clock. Managers work the hours necessary to complete the job accurately, thoroughly, and within given deadlines.

 

I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position? 
•    Develop, design, and oversee preventive and predictive efforts in order to minimize reactive repairs and unscheduled equipment downtime
•    Develop and implement means to capture failure data. Monitor and analyze failure data and furnish reliability test reports; determine root cause and propose and implement design modifications/solutions to improve reliability.
•    Analyze equipment trends, historical data and operator observations to recommend equipment improvements.
•    Assist in capital projects as needed, providing technical support for installation and start-up support of all new critical equipment.
•    Support operational continuous improvement efforts as technical resource, evaluating current equipment performance, reviewing design and identifying equipment recommendations.
•    Provide leadership for maintenance staff through effective communication, coaching, training and development. Define future state, set departmental goals, and communicate goals with supervisory staff, gain support and commitment. Ensure functional area goals are aligned to operational and organizational goals. 
•    Monitor and track Maintenance Department KPIs; develop and prime-move initiatives to continuously upgrade Department performance.
•    Ensure all safety and quality procedures and policies are followed on a consistent basis. Inspect and complete confined space entry and hot work permits. Perform accident investigation as necessary, identify root cause and corrective action
•    Build and maintain relationship between maintenance and operations to create an optimal balance between equipment operation and reliability, preventative maintenance activities. Identify/Assist operating plants that pose unique opportunities and develop Forward Looking RMS Plants to drive step level improvement in OEE, Equipment Reliability, Conversion and MUV cost.
•    Lead the process to integrate equipment into plant RMS and CMMS systems and establish Plant RMS expectations for implementing.

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role? 
•    Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
•    Minimum 3 years’ experience managing Maintenance department; demonstrated Reliability Excellence in manufacturing environment. 
•    Food industry experience preferred. 
•    Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) a plus.
•    Knowledge and application of lean tools, statistical tools, root cause analysis, failure mode & effect analysis, statistics Must be able to take complex tasks and concepts and present them in simple format to key stakeholders with varying skills and knowledge with intent on putting to practical use. Understand your audience.
•    Must be a highly collaborative and servant leadership style.
•    Must be very skilled at communicating at different levels of the organization from front line hourly employees to Senior Leadership.
•    Strong desire to be in the field; to gain deep understanding of the plant, manufacturing processes, people, etc. 
•    Must be able to coach, mentor, and develop at all levels of the organization.
•    Computer skills preferred, including SAP, Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project or scheduling software, etc.
•    PLC Control Systems, Utility Systems (compressed air, etc.), packaging equipment.
•    Strong communication skills (oral and written), strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational skills are required. 
•    The ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment are required.
•    The position provides a high level of technical expertise and data driven analysis for helping plants develop RMS plans around equipment and/or processes.
•    Function as a data driven leader, establishing dashboards and KPIs.
•    This includes researching and implementing Reliability & Maintenance methods, technologies, and training, to increase production and overall product quality through a robust Reliability and Maintenance program.
•    This position leads Centers of Excellence, Steering Teams, Learning Groups to develop RMS objectives and programs.

 

Salary Range: $89K - $165K/year
