Job Description

As the LFP Environmental Health & Safety Leader, you will be directly part of the LFP project team. You will be responsible for the EHS elements of the project design. All project permitting and regulatory applications will be managed by you, with cooperation from corporate EHS and Regulatory.  Your expertise will be needed to review equipment specifications, equipment arrangements, etc. Special emphasis will be needed for process safety elements of the design. You will develop training materials for the new department, and be a key leader for a safe commissioning and start up. After project completion, you will transition to the management of ICL Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Training programs for the LFP Department. The responsibilities include actively participating in and supporting the environmental safety and health initiatives established by ICL Americas, leading continual improvement in the facilities Responsible Care management systems, participating in EHSS compliance audits, meeting business commitments, and providing effective internal and external communication. 

 

I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position? 
•    Oversee submission of permit applications (air and/or water and/or waste) and reports as required by environmental regulations
•    Maintain and ensure environmental compliance for Air Permit, NPDES, storm water, SPCC and hazardous waste
•    Serve as a liaison with local, state and federal representatives from regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS and local fire department
•    Ensure EHSS compliance in plant design; special emphasis to identify and mitigate process risk
•    Participate in design reviews; equipment design, arrangements, process control strategy, etc.     
•    Lead continual improvement of the Responsible Care 14001 Management System
•    Lead site implementation of global EHSS tools including Enablon and GOARC
•    Evaluate EHSS impacts for change management throughout operations
•    Provide facility EHSS focus through the development and completion of annual EHSS work plan plans and support JHAs, and EHSS inspections/audits
•    Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analysis; including Hazops, What-if, etc. 
•    Develop, conduct, and evaluate required EHSS training for all employees 
•    Ensure accurate EHSS record keeping (e.g. medical records, OSHA Log, WC)
•    Drive culture of early detection of hazardous and learning from events to build defenses and minimize incidents
•    Manage and lead the Safety and Environmental compliance activities of the LFP Plant. This includes managing the EHSS staff
•    Actively participate on ICL Americas regional EHSS team and auditing program
•    Interact with outside vendors that are directly involved with compliance efforts including PSM, RMP, Environmental, Insurance and other outside services
 

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role? 
•    BS or BA degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related degree
•    A minimum of 5 years of EHS experience
•    Extensive knowledge in Process Safety Management
•    Experience in managing people/processes in health and safety field
•    Strong organization/leadership skills
•    Previous management experience in an industrial and chemical manufacturing environment
•    Proficient with MS Office
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
