Job Description
As the Electrical/Process Control Engineer, you will design, install, and troubleshoot these systems in the manufacturing plant. This role is a hands-on position working with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop electro-mechanical systems to support new or improved equipment installed in a manufacturing plant. These are systems containing motors, adjustable speed drives, and instrumentation connected to control panel(s) with computer-based machine interface and control systems.
I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?
• Troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs and adjustable speed drives. Troubleshoot other types of equipment such as “smart” instruments and data acquisition systems using vendor software.
• Work with electrical systems available in the manufacturing environment: 480V, 3 phase; and 208/120V, 3 phase systems.
• Design control panels or and write specifications with sufficient detail for control panel suppliers to perform the work.
• Perform engineering calculations as they relate to cable sizing, motor sizing to driven loads, operating speed range, and power system capacity requirements.
• Create control schematic diagrams and motor control schematic diagrams using computer aided drafting (CAD) tools.
• Write equipment specifications and/or technical requisitions suitable for purchasing equipment.
• Provide instruction and technical leadership to construction crafts as needed for the installation of cable tray, conduit, wiring, terminations, and equipment.
• Design and develop electrical power, instrumentation and control system plans, drawing packages and specifications for assigned projects.
• Manage multiple programs with focus on meeting commitments, cost, and timing while maintaining quality work.
• Communicate project objectives effectively, both written and verbal, to team members, plant personnel, and leadership.
• Generate accurate cost estimates for engineering manhours, equipment installation costs, installation manhours, and startup manhours.
• Understand and apply NEC electrical guidelines to new designs and existing equipment.
• Perform work in accordance with ICL’s electrical safety policy and implement electrical safety improvements in the manufacturing environment.
• Perform job safety assessment before starting work and lead pre-start up safety reviews before operating and turning over equipment for “others” to operate.
• In-depth working knowledge of low and electrical distribution systems, motor control systems, protective relaying, etc.
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
• B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix systems preferred.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Must enjoy working on multiple assignments in a manufacturing plant environment.
• Must demonstrate safety awareness by following proper safety policies and procedures.
ICL Job Level: 15
Salary Range: $71K - $134K/year
Annual Bonus Target: 7%, subject to plan provisions.
