Job Description

As the Assistant Project Manager, you will help to lead facility projects for ICL Specialty Products through design and construction.  The projects must align with strategic ICL initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements. Associated work will include management of in-house design in concert with engineering contractors for the successful completion of projects, utilizing a stage-gated approach. The Assistant PM will be responsible for managing all categories of project principles, including: Project Execution, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Risk, Information Management, Health-Safety-Environment, Quality, Staffing, Construction Management, Check-Out, Commissioning, and Operations. Qualified candidates will coordinate with other corporate entities in the aforementioned categories to manage a capital program that could exceed $400 M. Incumbent will interface with senior level stakeholders on a regular basis. Candidate will provide project management expertise with a general business acumen perspective to the business units while managing stakeholders across a diverse interface map.  The Assistant PM carries primary responsibility to shuttle the project through ICL capital governance stages, and maintains alignment of project execution with business deliverables. The Assistant PM serves the role of PMO from the project.

•    Conduct Alignment exercises as needed to confirm project delivers ICL expectations
•    Determine Critical Success Factors, and drive them to completion
•    Develop and maintain the RACI matrix
•    Prepare oversee the development of design and feasibility studies for projects using a steadfast stage-gated project management approach
•    Ensure the project approvals are aligned with ICL Capital policy and governance
•    Serves as PMO (project management office) for the project; mapping project goals; defining workflows within project team; identify resource constraints
•    Develop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and required
•    Prepare and/or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants with direct reports, typically project managers
•    Supervise staff of Project Managers, Project Engineers and Construction Managers including assignment of work, approval of expenses, authorization for travel, goal setting, performance management
•    Assign engineering team and resources to projects to optimize resources and ensure required expertise
•    Review equipment specification recommendations and prepare or review construction bid packages
•    Prepare and/or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project cost
•    Prepare and/or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activities summaries for the project management group under his/her span of control
•    Ensure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, cost and schedule
•    Manage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibility
•    Develop and maximize team member capabilities by fostering an environment that identifies talent, provides ongoing coaching and feedback and creates opportunities for growth and development
•    Provide assistance to plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in added profit or cost savings
•    Model and cascade behaviors supporting ICL strategy 
•    Communicate and model good business practices that support the company’s core value

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

•    Project Management: Candidate must have experience developing Project Charters and Project Execution Plans for projects, and then executing against them in a stage gated project management model. Minimum 7 years of combined project management and construction experience required.
•    Engineering: Candidate shall have experience in engineering project management, as well as managing engineering teams/departments
•    Health-Safety-Environment: Candidate shall have minimum 5 years of experience managing projects that have complex HSE implications, and demonstrated capability to align with corporate HSE expectations
•    Quality: Candidate shall have minimum 5 years of experience managing projects that have complex Quality requirements, and demonstrated capability to align with corporate Quality expectations
•    Procurement: Candidate will be required interface with corporate Procurement throughout the project life cycle, from initial estimates through tender and final award. Familiarity with contract administration/review experience is essential.
•    Project Controls: Candidate shall demonstrate ability to provide oversight in Scope, Cost, and Schedule control on all assigned projects
•    Risk: Candidate should have experience analyzing project risks and managing risk throughout the project. Formal training in risk management is a plus
•    Business and Commercial: Candidate must have experience working with commercial and business development teams to develop financial models for projects. Front end project development and appraisal experience required
•    Information Management: Candidate should have project experience with client portal/document management systems and/or collaboration application software
•    Bachelor’s degree preferred; Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical related engineering field; Construction Science and Management; etc
•    PMP certification preferred, P.E. registration is a plus
•    5 plus years of experience directly managing others, including plant or multi-plant operations
•    A combination of experience as outlined below in any of the following sectors is preferred: Phosphate Manufacturing, Inorganic Salts Production, Food and Beverage, or Specialty Chemicals
•    Demonstrated leadership skills including building and motivating teams
•    Demonstrated proficiency with applicable computer software packages
•    Exceptional verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills
•    Strong work ethic with excellent interpersonal skills
