Job Description
The Sr. Technical Sales Manager of Mexico will have the opportunity to build ICL’s Innovative Ag Solutions Technical Sales Team and lead the sales growth within the region. This role will require a strong leadership mindset that can identify, attract, train, and retain strong technical sales managers for the ICL team. This role will be responsible for building and growing the sales of the crop nutrition portfolio including granular, water soluble, control release, foliar, and liquid fertilizers. This will include customer relationship management from the distributor to retailer and grower level and a broad portfolio of ICL products. This role will be responsible for identify and securing the agronomy funding necessary to support the portfolio development within and sales growth within the region. This role will work closely with segment business development managers, marketing, and sales operations to ensure a positive customer experience and the highest level of commercial excellence. The crop focus will include the entirety of crops grown within the Mexico market.
Location: Must reside in Guadalajara, Queretaro, Leon, Aguascalientes Mexico
Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Provide technical support to the TSM and deliver effective training for them and for our partners’ sales teams on the proper use of granular, liquid, water soluble, and controlled release fertilizers in agriculture
- Design a sales growth strategy that accelerates market expansion and strengthens our competitive position within the territory
- Strengthen relationships with existing retail and distribution clients in the territory and expand our presence in emerging regions
- Develop the strategy for agronomy trials and demonstration plots in collaboration with the TSM.
- Produce sales forecasts on annual basis and monthly updates to support ongoing SOP process
- Fully utilize CRM tool daily recording all customer interactions and review company reports to manage the territory
- Know and understand the financial expectations of the sales budget, how to drive profitable business
- Participate on Global, NA & local meetings in English.
Required Skills and Experience (Must):
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, with fluency in speaking, reading, and writing
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field preferred with coursework in plant science, soil science, plant health and plant nutrition preferred
- 5+ experience and demonstrated success with agricultural sales, knowledge and use of nutritional solutions recommendations
- Ability to travel 70%
- Existing distributor, retail, and/or large grower connections within the geography
- Experience developing complete nutrient management programs following Good Agronomic Practices (GAP)
- Analytical skills including ability to read and understand nutritional values relating to soil, water, and plant material
- Must be able to manage personal goals, corporate objectives and keep a customer centric focus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Map Point, CRM
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in outdoor setting that may be cool, wet, hot, or dry and could require standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50lbs
- Valid US Visa & valid driver’s license in MX
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy; graduate of recognized agricultural institution
- Master´s degree in Business Administration.
- Technical experience with fertilizer, soils, and vegetable nutrition
- Interest in continuing education, proactive in getting trainings and keep learning.
- Field equipment: cE, pH, Brixmeter, Cardis NO3, Ca, K
