At all ICL sites, Health and Safety is the utmost priority. The Site Manager will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all Health and Safety regulations — a key aspect of this role.
The Role:
To support the company’s planned growth, the Site Manager will provide strategic leadership and vision to enhance the entire site operation, eliminate production bottlenecks, and reduce costs. A crucial element will be maintaining consistent production of conforming products.
The Site Manager will also lead the development and implementation of quality assurance policies, programmes, and initiatives. This role requires not only shaping the future of the site but also leading the workforce with authority and integrity. The successful candidate will drive change, introduce new working practices and technologies where appropriate, and uphold a strong ethos of customer service throughout the operations team.
Due to ongoing expansion, the role also demands expertise in planning plant layouts and optimizing the installation of machinery.
The Role Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership to improve processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety standards and create safe working environments.
- Oversee production to ensure consistent quality and conformity to specifications.
- Lead and develop the operations management team, providing mentoring and fostering professional growth.
- Plan and schedule production, manage work-in-progress, and coordinate the timely delivery of finished goods.
- Maintain accountabilities for all operations staff and related administrative functions.
- Implement and promote lean manufacturing techniques to support continuous, measurable improvement while meeting customer requirements.
- Contribute to corporate strategy in production, procurement, distribution, and supply chain management.
- Develop and control operational budgets to ensure profitability and resource efficiency.
- Direct supply chain operations, including purchasing, warehousing, and distribution.
- Reduce stock levels and increase stock turnover without compromising lead times or customer service.
- Continuously analyse production and material data to reduce waste and adopt best manufacturing practices.
- Prepare and present Key Performance Indicator (KPI).
- Manage new capabilities and process developments, including feasibility studies and business case justifications.
- Investigate and propose automation solutions, including robotics, where appropriate.
- Oversee process layout revisions to minimise throughput times and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Ensure that operational projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Address planning and environmental matters as required.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and manage external engineering resources.
- Foster effective communication across departments and with company leadership.
The Desired Skills & Experience:
- Degree-level education or equivalent, with relevant professional qualifications.
- NEBOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.
- Extensive experience in site management within a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of diverse business functions and best practice principles (e.g., supply chain management, Lean manufacturing, customer service).
- Excellent analytical skills for evaluating data and operational metrics.
- Proven commitment to implementing improvements and driving change.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, time management, and decision-making skills.
