In this all-round procurement role, you can add value to Prolactal’s team, and have a direct impact by supporting the sourcing activities for our food ingredients and organic dairy categories. You will be active from the operational work and have input in in our sourcing strategies. You will be able to learn, develop and grow in this category.

About the role 
As our senior buyer for Food Ingredients Dairy, we expect you to be (or become) the go-to expert in sourcing and market knowledge for the assigned product category. You will be responsible for co-developing and implementing Prolactal’s procurement strategy for Dairy raw materials, develop suppliers and negotiate contracts for Prolactal. Bring market insights (product and innovation) from the supply markets to the company. Run and be responsible for the purchasing process of the assigned category. Interact closely with supply chain, production, finance, sales, and quality.   


You will be working in a local team with interaction with global Sourcing Managers and Operational Buyers in this category and report to Prolactal’s Head of Procurement. 


Main Tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of suppliers, markets, and trends of the dairy raw materials and ingredients category. 
  • Strategic sourcing activities to achieve cost reductions and maintain or improve the service quality of the suppliers
  • Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers, negotiating, and concluding framework agreements
  • Establishing and maintaining regional relationships with suppliers (requires approximately 30 % business travel)
  • Contract fulfillment follow- up and action plan to correct deviations. 
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives with key suppliers
  • Co-developing and implementing the procurement strategy for our raw materials (milk, whey,  etc.) and being part of our Global Procurement Organization
  • Close cooperation with our supply chain, production, sales, finance, and quality management teams.

About you
We are looking for someone with a strong background in procurement ideally from the food ingredients market. If you have other relevant experience from the food ingredient market, we would also like to hear from you. If you bring experience in organics (dairy) this is a plus. You are used to complexity and can deal with multiple stakeholders both internal and external in multicultural environment. 


In addition, it would be great if you: 

  • Have strong sourcing skills and result-driven personality combined with business acumen, great communication skills to bring our negotiation and supplier relations to the next step
  • Knowledge of how to successfully manage complex, cross-functional activities and implement key sourcing processes
  • Sustainable mindset and environmental consciousness.  


Languages: Excellent command of English and German (preferred) is required.


Location: We prefer that our senior buyer is based in Austria (production site in Hartberg) or in Amsterdam, the Netherlands where the Global Procurement Organization (GPO) is based but then there will be extensive traveling to Austria. We offer the possibility to relocate to Austria.
