Scope: As the Process Engineer you will be responsible optimizing plant processes at both of ICL’s South Carolina Specialty Fertilizer plants, spending about 60% of your time at our North Charleston site and about 40% of your time at our Summerville site.  In this role you will work cross-functionally with multiple internal groups including Quality, Research & Development, EHS, and Operations/Production.  


Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate current processes to increase capacity while improving operating efficiency and product quality
  • Identify opportunities for new process modifications to ensure productivity, safety, and return on investment including reducing coating weight costs and lowering utility and raw material usage
  • Manage process related capital improvement projects 
  • Provide process engineering support to Operations and Maintenance on equipment performance and materials difficulties 
  • Oversee Management of Change (MOC) while thoroughly monitoring real time plant data including but not limited to Bill of Materials (BOM), formulas, and log sheets to detect abnormalities and optimize operations
  • Act as the liaison between production and the Quality and Research & Development teams as well as provide technical support to other departments as required
  • Maintain knowledge of lab testing procedures including the ability to run procedures unsupervised
  • Ensure proper documentation while overseeing the quality and handling of raw materials, finished goods, and water treatment processes 
  • Regularly interact with operators and shift supervisors to learn and share knowledge of the plant operations


Required Skills & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • At least 3 years production related experience in manufacturing environment
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex problems utilizing available data
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact cross-functionally across all levels of an organization

 

What Will Set You Apart:

  • 5+ years production related experience in manufacturing environment
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge/background 
  • PLC programming experience
