As the Capital (CapEx) Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading capital projects from concept to completion, ensuring cost-effective execution, adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, and alignment with business objectives. This role involves managing budgets, schedules, contractors, and cross-functional teams to deliver projects that enhance plant operations, reliability, and efficiency.

Project Development & Execution

  • Lead the development, design, and execution of capital projects, ensuring alignment with plant needs and corporate strategy.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and financial justifications (ROI, NPV, etc.) with assistance of Finance.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely execution and minimal impact on plant operations.

 

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Provide technical expertise in mechanical systems, piping, equipment installation, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, PSM), and industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard reviews, and ensure appropriate safety measures are incorporated into projects.
  • Manage vendor selection, contract negotiations, and procurement of materials and equipment.

 

Construction & Contractor Management

  • Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Conduct progress reviews, inspections, and resolve engineering or construction challenges as they arise.

 

Continuous Improvement & Sustainability

  • Identify and implement cost-saving and process improvement opportunities through capital investment.
  • Support plant initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and regulatory compliance.


What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. 
  • 7 years of experience in capital project management within a chemical, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, engineering design, and equipment reliability.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), OSHA regulations, and environmental compliance.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

 

What will set me apart?

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Experience in rotating equipment, piping design, and pressure vessel systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies

 

Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).


Salary Range: $106,000 to $145,000 


Annual Bonus Target: 12%, subject to plan provisions.
