Job Description

As the Regional Buyer, you will manage local spend and provide customer support as the liaison between procurement and the Lawrence, Kansas plant site.  In this role, you will act as the force for change in the procurement process while remaining agile for urgent plant needs.  You will also be responsible for the purchasing process or assigned items, including timely delivery and full supply of items and services at the assigned sites.  The Regional Buyer position will work closely with the site requestor to coordinate supply in accordance with sites and internal business partner needs.

This role will report directly to the West Hub Manager and have a dotted line to the Head of Procurement Operations for the Americas, both of which are based out of our St. Louis, Missouri Headquarters.


Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


Manage Local Spend:

  • Complete purchase orders and call-offs in SAP/ERP system
  • Responsible for the local procurement's results and implementations, including compliance with ICL policies and procedures
  • Tactical sourcing of customer requirements
  • Communicate and negotiate with clients and suppliers
  • Work in compliance with the organization's framework agreements
  • Manage the day-to-day interaction with suppliers
  • Develop fact base for assigned local spend 
  • Assist Hub manager with reviewing bids as required 


Customer Support:

  • Serve as first procurement point of contact for the Hub's sites
  • Address immediate problems and issues regarding items/services purchased
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints by phone, email, and face-to-face
  • Aid customers in using procurement IT systems
  • Follow up on orders to ensure that items are shipped complete and delivered on time

Experience/Skills Required:

  • 3 or more years of professional experience 
  • Strong attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain accuracy in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills with proven ability to generate an innovative perspective
  • Strong business orientation and understanding of business processes 
  • Act with determination and decisiveness with the capability to initiate and manage change while delivering value to the customer
  • Strong interpersonal communication with experience collaborating within multiple levels of an organization 
  • Ability to think and act strategically with local knowledge of the supplier’s market
  • Strong presentation skills
