ICL are looking to recruit a Technical Area Sales Manager – South East England. Due to the continued success and growth of ICL Turf & Landscape in the UK & Ireland, we are looking to recruit a high-calibre Technical Area Sales Manager to cover South East England.

 

 

About you

 

The ideal candidates will preferably be based in or around the South East counties of England and relish the opportunity to deliver first- class sales and technical support to turf managers and distributors of our range of fertilisers, plant protection products, wetting agents and grass seeds.  You will be a highly motivated and social character with excellent interpersonal skills, engaging confidently and professionally with people in a range of environments.


With a background in technical product sales within the turf and landscape sectors or a proven track record as a successful and dynamic turf manager, the ideal candidates will demonstrate a knowledge of turf management practices and hold an industry-recognised qualification in a relevant discipline. 


Full product training will be provided on an ongoing basis.


There will be a requirement for flexible working and spending time away from home on occasion.

The Role

 

We’re hiring a Technical Area Sales Manager to join the ICL Turf & Landscape team and lead our presence across the territory. This is a highly customer-facing, field-based role where you’ll work closely with turf managers and distributors at some of the most respected golf courses, sports venues, and landscaping sites in the country.

 

Working as part of a small, collaborative national team, you'll be the go-to expert for your region, supporting customers with our industry-leading turf management portfolio. From working with customers to find agronomic solutions to supporting distributor needs, this is a role that requires technical credibility, strong relationship-building skills, and commercial awareness.

 

Although home-based, you’ll spend most of your time on the road engaging with turf managers and working alongside distribution to deliver a service level befitting of an industry leading manufacturer. The Key Responsibilities

 

  • Act as the key point of contact for turf managers, groundskeepers, and landscapers across the territory, providing product advice, technical support, and tailored turf care programs
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with ICL turf distributors.
  • Support the delivery of sales targets through effective territory planning, proactive relationship management, and a deep understanding of customer needs
  • Design and deliver customised 12-month turf management programs that demonstrate the value and impact of ICL’s product portfolio
  • Stay close to the challenges turf professionals face today—providing relevant solutions using ICL’s advanced product range
  • Collaborate with the wider UK Turf & Landscape team, contributing ideas, sharing knowledge, and participating in team initiatives despite working remotely
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activity, and technical recommendations
  • Represent ICL at industry events, trade shows, and technical demos where required as well as deliver training to both turf managers and distribution.

 

The Requirements

 

  • Proven experience in technical sales within the turf, landscape, or amenity sector OR a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as a turf manager or grounds professional
  • Strong technical understanding of turf management practices and the ability to engage confidently with industry professionals
  • A logical, solution-oriented mindset with the assertiveness to manage  distributor relationships
  • Excellent time management and self-discipline, particularly in a remote working environment
  • Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable building long-term professional relationships with customers and internal colleagues
  • Ability to write and present tailored turf care programs that meet individual site needs
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the territory (some overnight stays may be required)
  • Industry-recognised turf management qualification (e.g. NVQ, HNC, BASIS, FACTS or equivalent)

 

 

The Nice-to-Haves

 

  • Prior experience working with or managing relationships across multiple turf distributors
  • Existing knowledge of ICL’s product portfolio or similar turf management solutions
  • BASIS or FACTS qualification (or willingness to work toward one)
  • Experience delivering product training or technical demonstrations to groups
