Job Description
As the Plant Manager of the Hammond, IN manufacturing site, you will be responsible for leading all plant employees to operate safely and efficiently to meet our customer needs. The Plant Manager will drive compliance with environmental and health standards, maintain high quality, ensure efficient production, manage costs, foster positive community relations, and deliver business commitments in a culture of continuous improvement. This role will be located at our Hammond, Indiana facility.

- Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure employees comply with regulatory training and plant requirements
- Maintain a safe work environment and lead safety initiatives
- Provide a substance-free workplace and support Human Performance-based safety programs
- Meet all governmental permit and license standards
- Manage on-site and off-site emergencies
- Ensure environmentally responsible operations and compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations
- Maintain ISO, RC, and OHSAS certifications
Maintain Employee Relationships:
- Promote employee growth, development, and diversity
- Set and lead the establishment of employee goals
- Provide recognition, rewards, and ongoing feedback
- Facilitate skill development and training
- Recruit and onboard prospective employees
- Manage salary planning and compensation
- Foster teamwork, participation, and consensus-based decision-making
- Address and resolve conflicts effectively
- Set and communicate clear expectations for all plant functions
- Build and maintain positive worker-management relations
- Uphold high plant standards and promote open communication on all issues
Manage Plant Operations:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for all plant functions
- Maintain the effectiveness and reliability of plant assets
- Safeguard assets, including personnel, property, and products
- Develop and implement long-term operational plans
Ensure Cost Management:
- Establish, monitor, and manage the plant budget
- Achieve fixed cost targets and manage variances
- Lead the development and execution of the plant capital plan
- Identify and drive cost improvement initiatives
- Implement contingency plans as needed
Meet Business Commitments:
- Align operations with corporate objectives and compliance requirements
- Communicate and advocate the plant’s capabilities
- Respond effectively to customer needs
- Manage customer visits and audits
- Participate in corporate business teams and initiatives
- Evaluate and implement new product and process opportunities
- Collaborate closely with sales and technical services teams
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related technical field
- 10+ years of applicable manufacturing industry experience with 5+ years in a leadership role with direct responsibility for unit performance including but not limited to production, maintenance, cost control, financial results, and safety
- Experience in a chemical processing plant, with a strong understanding of continuous and batch processes, plant unit operations, and process equipment; knowledge of phosphates is a plus
- Demonstrated experience working with ISO 9000, 14000, OHSAS 18000 standards, with a track record of maintaining relevant certifications
- Experience with process improvement techniques and the ability to drive efficiency and quality improvements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to extract, evaluate, and utilize data for process improvement from applicable systems
- Experience utilizing ERP system (SAP strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership and change management skills, with the ability to lead multifunctional teams, influence others, advocate for initiatives, and drive change within the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact at all levels within an organization
- Capable of providing clear and concise work instructions and setting expectations with staff. Strong decision-making skills. Ability to make sound decisions with limited data in a timely manner
- Flexibility, pragmatism, willingness to take a stand and ability to operate in ambiguous situations
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze cost reports, identify trends, construct accurate budgets and forecasts, and manage costs
- Demonstrated ability to manage many competing demands requiring close coordination with employees and the ability to effectively set and deliver results
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data bases, statistical packages

Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
Salary Range: $103,000 - $140,000
Annual Bonus Target: 16%, subject to plan provisions.
