The Global Alternative Proteins Leader & North America Business Development Manager has dual responsibility for leading ICL’s global Food Specialty Alternative Proteins Solutions business (one of ICL’s key growth pillars) and developing the North American opportunities that help to strengthen and significantly expand our business.  In this role, you will work closely with our Global VP, as well as the rest of our top management team, to continue building momentum for our business through new opportunities across entire Food B2B value chain, including partnerships. 

Responsibilities

Global Alternative Proteins

  • Existing product management
  • Grow/maximize contribution margin ($ - absolute)
  • Define analysis/work closely with finance team to understand segment performance, its main drivers
  • Define products portfolio/active products in market

 

New products development & priorities definition

  • Define customer leads, incl. pairing of key sales team members with key customers
  • Ensure required regulatory in place (liaise with regulatory department)
  • Ensure supply chain in place (liaise with supply chain department)
  • Define minimum stock/provide initial forecasting (liaise with supply chain)
  • Monitor progress of launch (incl. feedback)
  • Adjust launch approach (if required to increase probability of launch success)

 

New products market introduction (product launch)

  • Define “innovation themes”/large innovation projects
  • Approve and monitor type/content of customer driven projects portfolio
  • Identify regional projects with global potential and drive global roll-out
  • Prioritize projects workload for the R&D team

 

Lead S&M team globally

  • Setting expectations and targets, creating annual budgets/ contributing to five-year plans
  • Organization/people development
  • Support sales through key customers visits

 

Segment strategy development

  • Analyze and determine market potential within the Alternative Proteins Market (globally/regionally)
  • Monitor and analyze the activity of competitors and other changes on the market that may affect the company's market position and growth strategy
  • Develop/Update segment strategy (i.e. segment vision for next 5-yrs.)

 

Manage Marketing & Tradeshow planning & execution

  • Develop/define marketing initiatives; prepare marketing collaterals & branding/product naming (liaise with marketing communications department)
  • Regular visits of relevant fairs
  • Align and develop exhibition concept (liaise with marketing communications department)

 

Pricing

  • Responsible for products pricing

 

Business development North America

  • Lead strategic business development initiatives including the identification and development of business case models for new product and new capability development
  • Ensure the development of strategic relationships with key decision makers to aid our existing teams in strategy implementation

  • Analyze industry trends in order to identify expansion opportunities
  • Hands-on approach to developing business, including improving credibility with customers and potential partners by building trust, rapport, and confidence with the targeted upper management to build and further enhance our existing relationships with these organizations
Qualifications

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

 

  • Extensive experience (20+ years) and success developing and maintaining high level business relationships in the food industry
  • Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree (e.g. MBA) or food science degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience leading & developing team members
  • Strong track record creating and successfully executing strategies in the food industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the North American food ingredients market, products and the industry’s competitive landscape
  • Ability to engage with senior technical and management staff to obtain necessary information and commitment for a specific effort; leadership skills –creativity and sound management of “must win” and other marketing efforts;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, decision making, problem-solving, negotiating and organizational skills essential
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple-projects/responsibilities in a high pressure, fast-paced atmosphere
  • Timely decision maker, able to prioritize critical tasks that add the highest value
  • Experience in working in multi-national / global environments
  • Willing to travel domestically & internationally 25-30% required, including the occasional weekend
