As the Utility Operator, you will act as an apprentice to qualified operators in a chemical processing facility. Under guidance of qualified operators, this position will perform non-technical duties in operating areas such as basic chemical processing, equipment cleaning/housekeeping, and laboratory analysis.

  • Understanding of basic chemistry concepts, inclusive of phosphorus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and symbols.
  • Ability to use mathematics as it relates to operator job tasks.
  • Ability to make the various type measurements as required.
  • Possess knowledge of Gallipolis Ferry plant lay-out and equipment location.
  • Understanding of an operator’s role to the Site Production Plan, the Site Shipping Plan and the Site ISO Certification.
  • All other duties assigned pertaining to the production utility position.
  • Achieve all components of Process Plant Fundamentals accountabilities.
  • Ability to operate the drumming manifold in shipping.
  • Ability to perform Lab Aide duties during absence periods.


What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role? 

  • High school education or equivalency (GED) required. 
  • After hire, employee must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period.
  • After award of the position to an internal candidate, employee must successfully complete 120-day evaluation period and test based on generally accepted skill measuring techniques. 
  • This is a posted job which is subject to the bidding process.  Award of job to employee is based on requirements dictated by most current CBA (Labor Agreement) in affect at time of job awarding.  In general, job award is based on seniority and qualifications no bidders or qualified employees on lay-off status, hire will be made outside the plant.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment along with managing multiple projects/priorities/tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer skills- Microsoft Office, Outlook, and SAP
  • Interpret and use of paperwork/forms encountered on the job.
  • Able to work a rotating shift schedule including some nights and weekends is required.
  • Ability to regularly move and/or lift up to 60 lbs, wear appropriate PPE, and climb stairs and/or ladders.

 

What will set me apart?

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in maintenance or chemical operations whichever is most applicable is most preferred.
  • Candidates who have worked in certain packaging (filling drums, totes, etc…) and liquid transfer operations (truck or other transport fueling or loading operations) and some commercial sized operations (like large agricultural and large warehousing or distribution centers.
  • Associates degree (Applied Science in Engineering Technology Manufacturing Option or Applied Process Technologies- Chemical Operator Option or related degree), plus 1-2 years of chemical manufacturing
  • experience or combination of education and experience preferred.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).


Salary Range: $21.69 - $32.41/ hour depending on open bid positions
