The Role
Are you enthusiastic, proactive, and passionate about making a difference? AmegA Sciences is seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our facilities, services, and equipment.
Working as part of a collaborative maintenance team, you will support both AmegA Sciences and Lawford Heath, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities across production and facility environments. The role is fully site-based and offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
The Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Operative, your responsibilities will include:
- Planned & Preventative Maintenance (PPM / TPM)
- Carry out scheduled planned maintenance activities to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Proactively identify potential faults and implement corrective actions.
- Maintenance & Repair Activities
- Undertake mechanical and facility-related maintenance within your competency, including:
- Pneumatics and compressed air systems
- Belts, pulleys, and gears
- Motor replacement works
- Pipe fitting, replacement, and general plumbing
- Production equipment including automated filling lines and mixing tanks
- Basic electrical maintenance
- Racking and general construction/fabrication tasks
- Alarm Monitoring & Testing
- Perform on-site alarm testing and monitoring (no remote monitoring).
- Facilities & Site Works
- Carry out general facility maintenance works across the site to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Contractor Management
- Liaise with and supervise external contractors, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to the required standard.
- Improvement Projects
- Identify improvement opportunities and support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of maintenance or facility improvement projects.
- Safety & Compliance
- Actively participate in health and safety activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Equipment & Inventory Management
- Conduct daily and weekly equipment inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records and check sheets.
- Assist with maintenance stock control, ordering spare parts, and sourcing supplier quotations.
The Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised maintenance qualification or completed apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely certificate (ideal).
- Proven experience in mechanical and/or facilities maintenance within an industrial or production environment.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics, motors, pipework, belts, and general plant equipment.
- A strong awareness of health, safety, and risk management, with a general safety certificate (or equivalent).
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also managing tasks independently.
- Strong decision-making skills with a proactive approach to fault finding and continuous improvement.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to support business and departmental objectives.
