Job Title: Quality Control Chemist
AmegA Sciences plc (part of ICL-group) is an established company of 40 years producing niche products for the fertiliser and surfactant industry for Agricultural, Horticultural and Amenity sectors. With manufacturing facilities in Daventry, Northamptonshire. We are currently looking for a Quality Control Chemist to analyse raw materials in our Quality Control Department.
The Role
The position is for a Permanent contract.
- The ideal candidate will have a tenacious, problem-solving nature, attention to detail and a proactive approach to Quality Control.
- Working to ISO standards
- Undertaking quality control assessments for all the raw material used in manufacturing.
- Previous experience working to a Quality Management System is not essential but would be advantageous.
The Role Responsibilities
- Raw material testing
- Ensure accurate records of raw material analysis are kept up to date.
- Analytical analysis for quality control including wet chemistry technique and ICP-AES.
- Manufacturing support.
- Investigate internal or external complaints related to raw materials and final products.
- Ensure accurate records are kept of all laboratory work.
- Maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the QC and Analytical laboratories.
- Procure laboratory consumables and general supplies of the lab.
- Complying with ISO9001, ISO14001, and HSE legislation.
- Monthly reporting of QC performance.
- Responsible for maintaining the service contracts for analytical equipment.
- Follow all Health and Safety protocols, ensuring site compliance and Quality Control Standards
- Preparing, collection and analysing samples from both RAW material and Production Blending
- Compiling and recording all results – reporting variances to senior team.
- Operating Laboratory Equipment and maintaining for optimum functionality and accuracy.
- Undertaking of internal audits – checking standards are being adhered to within the process’ onsite
The Requirements
Academic & Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemistry or related field – minimum 2:2 or equivalent.
Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to detail.
- Problem solving.
- Able to plan, prioritise and manage workload to meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
- Intermediate level of IT skills i.e. Microsoft word, excel or equivalent.
- Proactive attitude.
