Are you enthusiastic, passionate and wanting to make a difference, with a can-do attitude? Someone with a good understanding, who has a proven track record of managing a company’s accounts to TB and experience of Purchase Ledger Control and knowledge of Sales Ledger Control.

Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant Finance discipline who will assist the Finance Manager with the efficient running of the Finance department, taking responsibility for the Management Accounts and Purchase Ledger Control and supporting Sales Ledger Control.

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for:

Completing monthly Management Accounts to ICL deadlines
Responsible for all month-end journals (i.e. accruals and prepayments)
Reconciling the Balance Sheet to ensure accuracy of monthly accounts
Responsible for Purchase Ledger including posting supplier invoices and ensuring sign-off rules are adhered to and managing supplier payments in a timely manner
Reviewing and processing expenses claims
Completion of bank reconciliations and managing the cashflow with the In-house Banks
HMRC reporting including VAT returns and Intrastat 
Support the UK companies Sales Ledger and Credit Control
Any additional reporting requirements of the business including reporting to teams in the European Head Office in The Netherlands  

Your profile

The Assistant Accountant will demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise their own workload in order to meet the required deadlines and performance standards. They will display a keen attention to detail to ensure procedures are accurately followed according to the Company’s specifications.

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working individual who can adapt to changing circumstances, with the ability to respond to the business priorities appropriately. Operating in-line with relevant legislation and the Company policies and procedures.

In addition, you bring the following qualifications:

•    Part-qualified AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
•    At least 2 years finance experience in a similar role 
•    Knowledge of QAD and/or Pegasus (Opera 3/Operations II) systems would be beneficial but not essential
