Are you enthusiastic, passionate and wanting to make a difference with a can-do attitude? As a key player and initial Incident Controller the Control Centre Operator must be able to keep calm when under pressure when dealing with critical incidents in a logical controlled manner. Have an in-depth knowledge and application of the mine and surface emergency schemes MR04a and MR04b. Must be able to prioritise and coordinate multi-disciplinary activities, accurately relay instructions from Managers to operational and engineering teams.


The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of technical aspects of mining and processing and have the ability to play a key role in understanding the implication of breakdown situations and deploy the correct resource to remediate the issues.

The Control Centre Operator will:

 

  • Be responsible for the instigation of the Emergency Scheme in the first instance.
  • Be responsible for controlling hoisting operations, ensuring efficient use of the shaft.
  • Be responsible for condition monitoring including, mine gases, airflows, underground pumping, tailings operations, conveyor systems.
  • Be responsible for; in the absence of Underground Shift Manager: - deployment of manpower and resources to help production flow and minimise downtime.
  • Be responsible for; in the absence of the Infrastructure Engineers: - monitoring pumping, diverting water flows and starting/stopping of pumping as required by the presented situation.
  • Be responsible for producing daily reports for: - Mining, Processing, Machine breakdowns, Hoisted tonnes, Processed tonnes, Conveyor stoppages, Manpower and Deployment, Absenteeism, Accidents, Geology grades and any others required by Management.
  • Be responsible for developing the onsite reporting and creating new reports and spreadsheets
  • Be responsible for the deployment of Infrastructure Personnel to breakdowns on conveyors, pumps and diesel vehicles. Ensuring that the correct personnel are deployed in a prompt fashion to minimise downtime.


Your profile


You should have sufficient knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety principles and issues. Be able to collaborate with the Shift Managers / Shift Co-Ordinators to make any decisions required to maintain production and maintenance activities in a safe and effective manner. In the absence of a Shift Manager / Shift Co-Ordinator, take such decisions.
