Job Description

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a candidate looking to progress their career in Safety. The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience and knowledge of industrial processes, production, logistics, mining & dockside activities. Has a good understanding of safety management systems as well as a Specialist knowledge of noise, asbestos, legionella, fire, working at height, manual handling, COSHH, vibration – HAVS/WBV Regulations, with a good understanding of modern safety management techniques and continual improvement.


Role’s purpose: 

 

  • To ensure ICL compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • To act as an ISO 45001 internal auditor.
  • Report to senior managers on issues affecting the performance of the safety management system.
  • Ensure all accidents / incidents where required are reported to the HSE under RIDDOR and the wider ICL community.
  • Site walk rounds – Underground and surface (Boulby and Teesdock).
  • Generation of monthly safety tool box talks and the presentation of them where required.
  • Flexibility regarding out of hours calls when dealing with EHS events.
  • Assist managers in the completion of accident / incident investigations.
  • Participate in the development of the risk assessment process.
  • Management of emergency preparedness in all aspects and site rescue teams.
  • Provide general assistance and guidance to employees.


Knowledge and Skills: 

 

  • Good knowledge of industrial processes, production, logistics, mining & dockside activities.
  • Understanding of safety management systems
  • Specialist knowledge of noise, asbestos, legionella, fire, working at height, manual handling, COSHH, vibration – HAVS/WBV Regulations etc.
  • Good understanding of modern safety management techniques and continual improvement.
  • Knowledge of the application of relevant legislation e.g. Mine Regulations 2014.
  • Working knowledge of occupational and process safety risk assessments.
  • Working knowledge of accident / incident investigations (root cause analysis).
  • Working knowledge and experience of IT systems – word, excel, PowerPoint.

 

Required Qualifications/Certificates/Experience: 

 

  • Professional Safety Qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate, willing to undertake or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience in Accident/Incident Investigation. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Projects
  • Plan to be a member of IOSH, if not so already and progress through membership grades.
  • High Hazard industrial experience
  • Emergency preparedness/rescue team management
  • The post holder will maintain confidentiality where appropriate in relation to ICL matters keeping any information about individuals confidential. 
  • Reading, analyzing and presenting on technical reports to ensure compliance with all legislation
  • Understanding the financial budgets for the safety department and managing activities within the team in accordance with this. 
  • The post holder will have experience in working to objectives and standards set in order to provide an acceptable level of service.
