About the role

The Quality Manager will ensure that our products and services meet all necessary requirements before they reach the consumer. Ensuring that CPL Boulby and the ICL UK Sales site of Teesdock and associated facilities operate a quality management system as a minimum to international standards and implementing industry best practice They must fully understand the requirements for the product or service and have a sense of responsibility towards our potential and existing customers as well as the competition. The overall goal is to help preserve our reputation by ensuring that our products and services are capable to drive sustainable growth.

The Quality Manager will:

Actively participate in the ISO 9001 audit process and correlate all quality related data for finished products from point of production (underground) to customer receipt, as described in the ISO 9001 standard and site requirements 
Reviewing and correlating customer complaints 
Assigning investigations to area managers for product quality related incidents and complaints, to include site / customer visits where necessary 
Identifying product quality trends (positive and negative) and report to appropriate departments 
Providing support to operations / commercial department 
Developing and reviewing product specifications, to include Potashplus, Salt, Sylvinite and Polyhalite 
Liaising with the Compliance Manager to develop action plans based on the internal ISO audit process 
Keeping ICL staff informed of quality statistics, product specifications etc. through monthly quality meetings and minutes, whilst also raising awareness of quality requirements
Managing departmental budget in liaison with the Compliance Manager for ISO standards and any other requirements to ensure quality compliance.

Your profile

You should have sufficient knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and production processes and understanding their impact on product quality. Experience of initiating investigations into quality incidents and ensuring CAPA is followed. You have the ability of setting a quality strategy, writing and implementing quality procedures.

In addition, you bring the following qualifications:

Desirable – The Chartered Quality Institute

  • Diploma / Degree in quality management, chemistry, chemical / process engineering (or similar science / technical discipline) 
  • Excellent mathematic abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
  • IOSH Managing Safely 
  • COSHH Assessment Training 
  • ISO 9001 Auditor Trained 
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Effective Communication Skills 
  • HACCP Assessment

Awareness and understanding of the following standards:


  • EU Fertiliser Regs 2019
  • ISO 9001:2015FIAS
  • SaltAS
  • Soil Association standard and other Organic bodies


Level 2 Skills for Life which incorporates:
