About the role


The Operations Manager (Infrastructure) is a demanding role but is vital to the mining processes.  The Infrastructure of the mine consists of conveyor belts which are necessary to transport mined mineral from the mine faces to the shaft where they are transported to the surface for processing.  The Operations Manager (Infrastructure) is responsible for ensuring that the Infrastructure Team are provided with clear guidance and leadership to ensure that the infrastructure operates safely and efficiently.

 

  • Providing operational strategy and technical expertise to the Infrastructure Team both during and outside normal hours as demanded by safety and business requirements.
  • Driving and delivery of effective operational efficiently in a safe manner at the optimum cost.
  • Formulating and agreeing KPI’s with the Operational team.
  • Reviewing operational performance, equipment performance, reliabilty and failure, leading and delivering improvement and defect elimination programmes. 
  • Responsible for determining the competency profile requirements of their team to deliver operational effectively and efficiently and the subsequent personal and competency development of team members to achieve this requirement.
  • Organises and directs outage activity in conjunction with the Operational Engineers, Asset Management and Planning Engineer.
  • Develop, deliver and manage projects for enhancement, new equipment and technology.
  • Prepares future budgets and forecasts for operations and projects and manages to agreed budgets.
  • Formulates and agrees operational consumables stock holding levels.
  • Develops and agrees annual objectives with Production Manager (Infrastructure) and progresses updates via Successfactors.

 

Your profile

 

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant Mining or a Technical disciplines or have significant Managerial and Leadership experience.
  • Several years experience of working in heavy industry and significant knowledge of operations in their relevant discipline.
  • Proven track record including supervision and management of operations teams and equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment relating to mining highly motivated and demonstratable history of improving safety performance, productivity and reliability in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of effective communications at all levels within the business with written, verbal, and visual presentation. 
  • Good working knowledge of Operational Excellence and application of lean techniques in manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstratable leader with a high level of team skills allowing ability to lead and inspire teams. 
  • Proficient in PC skills, having a thorough knowledge of SAP PM, Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Knowledge of operational techniques to improve production outputs.
  • Creative thinking and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability in solving problems in a new way, seeing past what is established and creating a new way of doing things.
  • Track record of applying innovation and technology to improve operational efficiency.
