As our Mechanical Engineering Planner you will be responsible for developing plans and work schedules to deliver maintenance to agreed levels of schedule compliance allowing work to take place in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that plant equipment and machinery is safe to use and available to production when required.


Our Polysulphate is made from the natural mineral, polyhalite, mined in the UK by ICL Boulby at the world's only polyhalite mine, 1200m under the North Sea. About the role

 

  • You will apply a proactive approach, to organise and resource the work prior to issuing job work-packs which ensure that appropriate safety procedures are applied, there is compliance with all the relevant health & safety legislation and that tasks are delivered efficiently. 
  • Identify critical steps and control points in work methods and be able to make leave/repair/replace decisions to ensure continuity of safe and efficient production.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance performance in line with the ICL asset management operational process recommending opportunities for improving the effectiveness and efficient delivery of maintenance.
  • Provide technical expertise allowing you actively participate in providing guidance, and evaluation, to the maintenance team on options and solutions that exist and could be applied.  
  • Work in conjunction with the maintenance team to devise Risk Assessments for the planned activities. Ensure that all safety aspects of the maintenance activity are identified and managed within the work pack according to company rules and procedures. Furthermore, ensures  by site visits and audits that there is necessary understanding and compliance of the control measures.
  • Manage all work activities, considering aspects that are critical to the timely completion of the work, such as parts availability and delivery, third party equipment repairs, lead times and human resource management.
  • Continuously seek to improve the effectiveness of maintenance, efficiency of delivery and optimisation of resources working closely with the maintenance team.
  • An effective communicator, both written & verbal, who is a demonstrable self-motivator capable of supervising internal and external work teams as necessary.


Your profile


For this role we are looking for someone with the following qualifications & competencies: 

 

  • Demonstrable practitioner shills with Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP)
  • HNC or relevant engineering experience in the required discipline
  • Level 2 Skills for Life which incorporates: Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ
  • Competent with Microsoft Project
  • IOSH Managing Safety (Preferable)


In addition, you will have the following experience: 

 

  • Time served craftsperson with several years’ experience of working in heavy industry and significant knowledge of maintenance in their relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of relevant of relevant Health & Safety legislation including HASWA 1974, Mines Regulations 2014, PUWER, LOLER etc…
  • A proven ability of demonstrating a logical, structured approach to break down tasks into their respective elements, enabling the overall task to be delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Sound working knowledge of Operational Excellence and application of lean techniques.
