Role’s purpose: 

 

  • Provides maintenance strategy and techinical expertise for assigened area both during and outside normal hours as demanded by safety and business requirements.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained in a safe reliable condition by the use of appropriate methods.
  • Drives and delivers effective maintenance efficiently in a safe manner at the optimum cost for assigned area.
  • Formulates and agrees KPI’s for the assigned equipment with the Operational team.
  • Reviews equipment performance, reliabilty and failure, leading and delivering improvement and defect elmination programmes. 
  • Responsible for determining the competency profile requirements of their team to deliver maintenance effectively and efficiently and the subsequent personal and competency development of team members to achieve this requirement.
  • Organises and directs outage activity for the assigned area via the appropriate channels – Operations Managers, Asset Management and Planning Engineer.
  • Develop, deliver and manage projects for enhancement, new equipment and technology.
  • Prepares future budgets and forecasts for maintenance and projects and manages to agreed budgets.
  • Formulates and agrees spares stock holding.
  • Develops and agrees annual objectives with discipline lead Engineer and Production Manager and progresses updates via success factors.
  • Manage their area of responsibility in accordance with current legislation as itemised in their Mines Regulations 2014 appointment and any other legislation applicable to their area.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of an assigned area of plant and equipment.
  • Formulate, deliver and constantly review and improve maintenance strategies to optimise equipment availability and reliability in conjunction with the operational team. 
  • Liaise with the Production Managers, Operations Engineers and other Engineering and Operational personnel to prioritise and deploy the appropriate resources for the safe and efficient working of their area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure asset reliability is delivered through adherence to planned maintenance schedules and operator care standards.
  • Continuously develop and refine their knowledge and understanding of all legislation applicable to their area of responsibility and any pertinent updates.

 

Knowledge and Skills: 

 

  • Ideally educated to degree level in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Several years experience of working in a heavy industry and significant knowledge of maintenance in their relevant discipline.
  • Proven track record including supervision and management of engineering teams and equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment relating to mining or minerals processing as required by their specific area of deployment (processing or underground)
  • Highly motivated and demonstratable history of improving safety performance, productivity and reliabilty in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of effective communications at all levels within the business with written, verbal, and visual presentation. 
  • Good working knowledge of Operational Excellence and application of lean techniques in manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstratable leader with a high level of team skills allowing ability to lead and inspire teams. 
  • Proficient in PC skills, having a thorough knowledge of SAP PM, Microsoft Project and Excel.
