About the role
As an Operational Buyer – Raw Materials, you will play a key role in our procurement team. Your mission is to actively participate in sourcing activities with the goal of achieving cost reductions while maintaining or improving quality and vendor service levels. You will work closely with Global Sourcing Managers who define the global sourcing strategy for the Raw Materials team.
Your responsibilities will be split between long-term projects—such as assisting in preparing and coordinating bids—and operational activities, including monitoring the purchasing process. This is a dynamic role where you will interact daily with sites, suppliers, and colleagues worldwide.
What you will do
In this role, you will take ownership of the operational side of the sourcing process for raw materials. You will manage purchase orders and call-offs, ensuring that every order is shipped and delivered on time. When challenges arise, you will work closely with logistics and production teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Beyond day-to-day operations, you will contribute to strategic projects by assisting Global Sourcing Managers in preparing and coordinating bids, providing them with accurate and timely information. You will also analyze procurement processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and share best practices across the organization. Additionally, you will review and approve financial and business transactions within established frameworks, ensuring compliance and accuracy at every step.
Your profile
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an analytical and coordinating role, preferably in raw material procurement (chemical industry).
• Strong skills in Excel and SAP.
• Excellent command of English; Dutch and German are a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Good conflict resolution abilities.
• Result-driven and able to work autonomously.
• Strong business orientation and understanding of business processes.
• Willing to commute 4 days a week.
• Strategic thinker and pragmatic worker.
• EU passport or valid work permit for the Netherlands and residing in the Amsterdam area.
• Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
• Team player with a collaborative mindset.
