Internship - Process Development

Date:  29 Apr 2024
Posting End Date:
Location:

Amsterdam, NL, 1013 BM

Company:  ICL Fertilizers Europe C.V.

We offer a challenging internship in a dynamic and learning-by-doing environment where you will be able to make improvements to our fertilizer products. We always strive to be the best and encourage everyone who works with us to excel. We also embrace diversity, give people the latitude to express themselves and value different opinions.

In order to grow, plants need three main nutrients: nitrogen, phosphate and potassium. In the plant in  Amsterdam, ICL produces nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium-based fertilizers. Phosphate is mined in different  locations on earth, but not anymore in the European Union. Furthermore, the mined phosphate has a high Cd  level. The EU has as a goal to limit the amount of Cd in agriculture, because of the risks for human health. In  order to lower the phosphate dependence in the EU and lower the amount of Cd in agriculture, ICL is  developing products made of alternative phosphate sources. One of these alternative sources of phosphate is Sewage Sludge Ash recovered from the water treatment facilities in The Netherlands.

What we offer:
During the internship you will help develop these novel products and close the phosphate loop. This internship allows you to work on a project to make more sustainable fertilizers. Finally, you will work in a pilot plant and plant-scale environment, learn first-hand how to develop new products and processes. The goal of the internship will be to produce the products that you develop in the pilot plant, in the factory.
Would you like to write your thesis during your internship, we may also offer you the opportunity to do that!
