Job Description

As the Utility Maintenance, you will apprentice to qualified Operators and Mechanics in our chemical processing facility located in Gallipolis Ferry, WV. Under guidance of qualified Operators and Mechanics, perform non-technical duties in operating areas such as basic chemical processing, equipment cleaning/housekeeping, and laboratory analysis

  • Assist operating personnel as directed by respective Supervisor while working in a team environment and exhibit behaviors demonstrating knowledge.
  • Adhere to all plant safety and regulatory policies while performing required work.
  • Successfully complete a 90-day evaluation period and complete required test based on generally accepted skill measuring techniques.

 

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role? 

  • High school education or equivalency (GED) required.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and/or chemical concepts and safety; Knowledge & application of technical skills to operate equipment safely/effectively to meet production plan.
  • Able to work a rotating shift schedule; able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to regularly move and/or lift up to 60 lbs, wear appropriate PPE, and climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and symbols.
  • Ability to use mathematics as it relates to mechanic job tasks.
  • Ability to make the various type measurements as required.
  • Can-do attitude and ability to be flexible in your role. 
  • Demonstrated strong motivation and self-directed skills as well as the ability to problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds including being responsible, supportive and communicative.
  • Computer literate; working knowledge of MS office applications.
  • Interpret and use of paperwork/forms encountered on the job. Experience understanding and fulfilling instructions in written, verbal, and/or diagram form. 
  • Strong environmental, health, and safety (EHS) cultural awareness. 
  • Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control laws and regulations.

 

What will set me apart?

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of progressive experience in maintenance (instrumentation, electrical, machinist, welding, pipe fitting, etc.) in chemical manufacturing / processing, industrial manufacturing / processing, commercial manufacturing / processing or power generation or municipal / utility operations
  • 2 year Industrial maintenance related education (minimum associates degree) or certifications, or Combination of experience and education / certifications in maintenance.
  • Excellent mechanical, troubleshooting, and problem solving aptitude. Fork truck operation certification a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate where you have taken on roles or assignments with increased responsibility.
  • Ability to demonstrate your understanding and appreciation of how your work has impacted other departments and/or individuals.
  • You are inquisitive and enjoy learning how things work.

Compensation at ICL:

If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).


Starting Salary: $21.06
